2015 Class Descriptions

Beginner Double/ Triple Cloudswing

Saar Rombout
The double/triple cloudswing are two/three ropes in a U-shape under each other in which you can drop from one to another, knot them through each other and swing. Saar created all of her own vocabulary for this technique. Learn different ways to climb, tie knots, and drops, as well as and strengthening and flexibility to be able to do more in the ropes and other aerials.
Pre-requisite:  beginner class / none.


Int/Adv Double/ Triple Cloudswing

The double/triple cloudswing are two/three ropes in a U-shape under each other in which you can drop from one to another, knot them through each other and swing. Saar created all of her own vocabulary for this technique.We will do a range of techniques; balances, dynamic, drops and knots, we will also try some duo things in the ropes.  We will also explore finding new movements.
Pre-requisite:  No experience necessary in Cloudswing, but Int/Adv experience in other aerials. Must have good grip strength and to be able to do leg lifts and pull ups.
 
Holy Harness! Beginner Harness Wall Running

Were you intrigued by how Batman and Robin were able to walk up a wall?  Well now you can too!  Using a sit-harness and abseil equipment, begin with an introduction to harness, core stability strengthening & preparation.  Then move through the basics of orientation on different planes, building towards a more dynamic vocabulary and finally to locomotor movement while horizontal.
Pre-requisite:  beginner class / none.  Wear multiple snug layers around your hips and waist for your comfort. 

I Can Fly, I Can Fly!  Beginner Counter Weight Harness

Learn basic counter weight harness techniques, including front-flips, back-flips, summersaults in the air, working close to the ground, hand-stand dives etc. Then move higher in the air with the aid of a counter-weight technician on a ladder.  If you’ve ever wanted to be on the ladder seeing what it is like to fly people, now is your chance.
Pre-requisite: none.  Wear multiple snug layers around your hips and waist for your comfort. We do a lot of spinning so bring the ginger if you don’t like it.

LyraMotion:  Beginner Hoop Technique

This class builds a solid foundation of hoop tricks and vocabulary to get you started in studying lyra.  Emphasis on full range of motion and proper technique.
Pre-requisite:  Must be able to invert without kicking up and do at least one pull up from straight arms.  

Beginner Fabric

This class is designed for the beginner level aerial student that has had a taste and is yearning for more or has never tried it. Class will consist of a fun warmup combining dance, yoga, and Pilates, followed by conditioning, basic wraps and locks, and will culminate in an informal group performance of skills learnt in class.
Prerequisite: An open mind and a desire to have fun and get fit.


Intermediate/Advanced Fabric

This workshop will include a floor/air warm up, followed by conditioning and strength training (just a little bit) to ensure all required muscles are ready for a challenge. This workshop will be sequence based including climbs, phrases, and drops. We'll discuss and practice different variations to get in and out of specific preps/tricks, attempt adding spinning to some moves (not required but encouraged), review specif technique/mechanics/placement and use of legs, all while ensuring we are flowing from one move to the next. Workshop will culminate in an informal-but-all-out group performance made up of skills learned that day (bring your favorite song!). Workshops are designed for Intermediate-Advanced students however adjustments can be provided for Beginner 3 students that would like to participate, subject to approval. Prerequisite: Clean Hip Key in the air, ability to perform several inversions, and stay safely in the air for at least three minutes.

Tie One On:  Intermediate / Advanced Rope Technique

Work on beats, tricks, and trades to make your rope training as efficient as possible with emphasis on aesthetic integrity and safe, effective technique.
Pre-requisite:  Must have solid straddle ups from the air and at least one year of aerial training in any apparatus.   

Hoop, There It Is!  Intermediate/Advanced Hoop Choreography

Work on challenging sequences you can cut up and Frankenstein into your own choreography.  Spin based workshop.  No puking.
Pre-requisite:  Must have a solid base of vocabulary and have at least one year of experience studying hoop.

Floor Swimming

So you’ve learned a few tricks in the air, but how do you approach the apparatus? Learn how to roll, glide, and swim across the floor, rise like a wave in a handstand, and absorb back into the ground in graceful fluidness.  An awesome way to transition from floor to air. Stretching/Flexibility

A hodgepodge of techniques picked through from contortion and acrobatic backgrounds, this workshop aims to arm you with everything you will need to acquire square splits, open healthy shoulders, and a progressive backbend.  In short, stuff you need to look nice in the air.
Pre-requisite: none.
